I follow quite a lot of beauty channels on YouTube just for product reviews, clothing hauls, and DIY projects, and it's kind of become a guilty pleasure of mine. One of my favorite types of videos to watch are monthly favorites, so I decided to start the series on my blog as well! Here are some things I was loving in the month of June.
When I first began my interest in makeup about a year ago, I was all about the bright Barbie pinks and classic reds when it came to lipstick. Now that I've had my fair share of knowing what shades and textures I like best on me, I'm all about the berry and purple shades. I have a couple that I've grown to love, but none that last all day on me or don't dry my lips out. So last month I decided to be little adventurous and buy my first high end makeup product ever, Two Faced's Melted Liquid Lipstick in Fig. I contemplated the decision for months (yeah, I'm super cheap) and had to mentally justify spending $21 on a lipstick, but boy, is it wonderful! I can wear it sheer with just one coat, or I can build up several coats for a more pigmented look. I don't even use a lip liner because the applicator makes the product apply so easily. And who can resist this cute packaging?
However, as sassy as I might feel with a pink or purplish lip, there's nothing classier (and quicker) than the perfect nude. And a matte one at that. I'm extremely fair skinned and have found that the light pinkish nudes I've tried in the past completely wash me out, until I tried THIS one. This is Maybelline's Creamy Matte Lipstick in Lust for Blush and it's the perfect your-lips-but-better color. I love it for those days that I don't really want a statement lip, but I still want to give my face some sort of extra color. I can literally put this on in 0.2 seconds and it never fails to apply perfectly.
Anyone that knows me knows how organized and anal I have to be about everything, and naturally, making lists is one those guilty pleasures that follows suit. I have notebooks and post-it notes and random scraps of paper with checklists and ideas all over the house, but unless they're all in one place, some items just never get checked off. Since my phone is always with me, I've tried numerous note taking apps, and they were okay, but I wasn't in love. Until I found Microsoft OneNote. I can add numerous tabs (and color code them, oh my) for different sections of to-do lists, along with subcategories. For instance, the main tab pictured is for this blog and my subcategories to the right are for future posts, which is why they're blurred out. Additionally, this isn't only for phones so I have it on my PC as well, and I used it for taking notes at school. I can insert pictures, highlight important tasks, and give something a due date. Every time I add a new item on my phone or computer, it automatically saves my progress to Mircrosoft OneDrive so I can retrieve it from any device that has internet. The best part is when I can check off the ToDo box and watch my list get shorter. There's nothing better than ending a productive day knowing I completed all my tasks.
When I first saw the midi ring trend rise, I thought it was the silliest idea ever. Like who would want to wear a ring in the middle of their finger? BUT, I'm a sucker for minimalistic jewelry and have come to love the way they look. I bought this one at Love Culture for around $3 and I've worn it almost every day. The best part is, you never need to stick to one size because they can be worn on any finger and at any joint.
I'm not one for distopian or apocalyptic movies because most of the time they just kind of feel too far-fetched and all the same to me. The Giver? Divergent? The Hunger Games? They're not all really that enticing to me. (Even though the hunger games is the best of the three.) Therefore, when The Mazerunner came out last year, I wasn't all that interested. However, I went to the theater a couple weeks back and saw the preview for The Scorch Trials, which is the second installment of The Mazerunner series, and I have to admit, I'm pretty stoked for it! I was bored the other night and looking for a movie, so The Mazerunner it was. And it was phenomenal! It has the perfect mixture of mystery and action and just kept me wanting to know more the entire film! I'm kind of glad I didn't see it when it first came out because now I don't have to wait a year until the sequel is released haha.
I'm not much for sugared drinks and I stay away from any liquid calories because I drink SO much in a day. I've always loved tea, (I guess that's the southern in me) but it always has so much sugar so I tried to avoid it. I usually just stick with water, or when it comes to soda, diet drinks or coke zero. However, when I saw that Arizona came out with a zero calorie Arnold Palmer, I just had to try it (especially for only $0.74!) and it's literally all I drink now. Seriously, I bought all 11 cans that Walmart had last week.
